More about the Owner (Daryl Terry)

In 1990 I moved to the Marietta area to attend engineering school.  While attending school I often found the time to go fishing .  I soon discovered the many boat ramp and bank access areas of the Allatoona reservoir.  Years later I purchased a canoe to get away from the bank in addition to gain access to those areas not readily accessible by others.  While attempting to find information on canoe rigging techniques I stumbled into the world of kayak fishing on the internet.  It wasn't long till I purchased my own kayak and began my longtime addiction to kayak fishing.   Soon I began to bring my family, friends, and coworkers on kayak fishing outings.  I really enjoy bringing new people into the sport and sharing the fun with others.

What can I expect from an outing?

Typically it takes 30 minutes to introduce you to the kayak and help you get comfortable.  During this time we also cover safety items such as fitting and wearing of PFDs.  Basic paddle strokes and maneuvering are covered in addition to familiarization with fishing gear.  Once you are comfortable we begin trip.

Can I bring my own tackle or favorite fishing rod and reel?

Absolutely, just remember you will be on a kayak and will need to have your tackle in a small and easily manageable tackle box.   Keeping your tackle in a container about the size of a school lunch box is usually a good idea for beginners.  I know its tuff to leave behind your 30 year collection of tackle and lures but simple is better when you are a beginner.

What boats do you have?

I currently offer Hobie Mirage Outback, Mirage Sport and an Ocean Kayak Prowler 15 boats for my clients.  These boats are extremely stable and the Hobie models offer the option of paddling or peddling using the mirage drive. If you have a preference of another model, please let me know.

 Cool Weather

Early Fall and Spring can be some of the best times to fish.  Not only are the temperatures more comfortable there are fewer people out on the water.  Caution must be exercised to insure safety during these times of year.  Appropriate dress is a must. While I personally fish year round, I don't guide during the colder months for safety reasons.

Please note:  I do not guide trips when water temperatures are consistently below 65 degrees Fahrenheit.   Safe and happy return of my guests is my first priority.
